US, Russia delegations to discuss Russia-Ukraine peace plan in Florida
As stated by reports citing individuals familiar with the preparations, the Russian side attending the Miami meeting is likely to include a senior envoy of President Vladimir Putin who has previously taken part in related negotiations.
There was no immediate public response from the White House when asked to comment, according to reports.
The upcoming discussions are expected to mark another step in a continuing series of meetings focused on developing a peace arrangement to bring an end to the war, which has lasted for nearly four years.
In recent weeks, a senior US envoy and a close presidential adviser participated in consultations with Ukrainian and European officials in Germany. Those discussions reportedly covered both a proposed 20-point peace initiative and economic matters.
Earlier, officials gathered in Geneva in November, where they drafted a "refined peace framework," updating an earlier US proposal, according to reports.
Following that session, the US representatives traveled to Moscow on Dec. 2 to present and discuss the draft framework with the Russian president.
Subsequently, delegations from the United States and Ukraine held additional talks in Florida, which both sides later described as constructive, according to reports.
